Can I bring the Fresh Juice Blender on an airplane?

Answer: Yes. The Fresh Juice Blender is airline-legal in carry-on luggage worldwide. Its 7.4 Wh lithium-ion battery is far below the 100 Wh FAA and IATA limit for personal electronics. TSA does not treat it differently than a phone or power bank. The one rule: the battery must go in your carry-on, not in checked luggage.

The detailed answer

This is one of the most frequently asked questions because the rules around lithium batteries on planes sound intimidating. The reality for the Fresh Juice is simple, and we have run this past TSA and IATA guidance directly.

The FAA, TSA, and IATA all use the same threshold for consumer lithium-ion batteries: 100 watt-hours (Wh). Below 100 Wh you can carry up to two spare batteries plus any number of batteries installed inside devices, in your carry-on, with no airline approval required. Above 100 Wh (for example, a large portable power station) you need prior approval from the airline.

The Fresh Juice Blender battery is 2000 mAh at 3.7 V nominal, which gives 7.4 Wh. That is roughly the same energy as a mid-size phone battery. It is approximately 1/13th of the FAA carry-on limit. In other words, you could stack 13 of these blenders in your backpack and still be within the personal device limit.

Packing rules. Always put the Fresh Juice Blender in your carry-on, never in checked luggage. This is an FAA requirement for all lithium-ion batteries because an onboard fire in a checked bag is much harder to detect and extinguish than one in the cabin. Additionally, before the flight, empty and rinse the cup, and make sure the blender is not going to accidentally power on by pressure in your bag (the Fresh Juice has a double-tap activation to prevent this).

TSA liquid rule. Any liquid inside the cup counts as liquid, so a pre-mixed smoothie over 100 ml (3.4 oz) will be confiscated at security. Pack dry ingredients or a protein powder scoop separately and add liquid after you pass security, for example at a water fountain or from a bottle bought airside.

International rules. The 100 Wh threshold is consistent across the US (FAA), EU (EASA), UK (CAA), Canada (CATSA), Australia (CASA), and most of Asia. A few airlines have their own stricter lithium rules, mostly targeting spare power banks over 20,000 mAh. The Fresh Juice's 2000 mAh internal cell is an order of magnitude under those thresholds.

Customer tip: the Fresh Juice has become popular as a carry-on item specifically because you can make a fresh smoothie on a layover, at a hotel with no blender, or at a campsite. Just add water or milk from any retail bottle, drop in fruit from a convenience store, and blend. No kitchen required.

Related questions

Do I need to declare the Fresh Juice at airport security?

No. TSA treats it as a standard personal electronic device. Just take it out of your bag at security screening along with laptops and tablets if required by the checkpoint.

Can I put the Fresh Juice Blender in checked luggage?

No. All lithium-ion batteries must travel in the cabin. Putting it in checked luggage is an FAA violation and can result in the bag being pulled.

Will the Fresh Juice battery drain faster at altitude?

No. Commercial cabins are pressurized to about 6,000 to 8,000 feet equivalent, which has no measurable effect on lithium-ion battery performance.
